Based on the teaching from the video: Who is Gog? Revelation 13:1 — “And I saw a beast coming out of the sea.”
Who Is Gog in Revelation 13:1?
The book of Revelation is one of the most important books for believers living in the final days. It reveals the coming tribulation period, the rise of the beast system, the work of the false prophet, the warning against the mark of the beast, and the need for the people of God to remain faithful to Jesus Christ.
One of the key questions in understanding Revelation 13 is this: Who is Gog? Revelation 13:1 says that John saw a beast coming out of the sea. To understand this beast, we must connect Revelation 13 with Revelation 20, Revelation 11, Revelation 14, and the wider message of Scripture.
One God, One Lord Jesus Christ
The foundation for understanding prophecy is the truth of God’s Word. 1 Corinthians 8:6 says:
“Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
There is one God, the Father, and one Lord, Jesus Christ. Eternal life is found through Jesus Christ, and believers must remain in Him. The God of Christians is the God revealed in the Bible, not the gods of other religions or human imagination.
This truth matters because the book of Revelation warns of a time when deception will become global. If people do not know the God of the Bible and do not know Jesus Christ, they will be vulnerable to the deception that is coming.
The Main Warning in Revelation
Revelation is not only about future events; it contains a direct warning to humanity. Revelation 14:9 gives one of the most serious warnings in all Scripture:
“If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand…”
The message is clear: do not worship the beast, do not worship its image, and do not receive its mark. Revelation 14:10 warns that those who do will drink the wine of God’s fury. This is why Revelation must be studied carefully. It is a warning from God to prepare His people before the tribulation period reaches its fullness.
Revelation 20: Satan Released From His Prison
To understand Gog, we must begin with Revelation 20. Revelation 20 describes Satan being bound for a thousand years and then released for a short time. The teaching explains that this binding happened after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, when God sent the angel Michael to seize the dragon and place him in captivity.
Revelation 20:7-8 says:
“When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth — Gog and Magog…”
According to this teaching, Magog is Satan, the devil himself. Magog is not a physical country or a place on the map. Magog is the devil, the spiritual enemy of God. Gog is identified as the chief angel of Magog, the one through whom the devil works in the final deception.
Revelation 13: The Beast Coming Out of the Sea
Revelation 13:1 says:
“The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea.”
This beast coming out of the sea is central to understanding the end-time deception. The teaching explains that the dragon stands on the shore of the sea because the devil has been in captivity, and the beast rises from the sea because this spiritual power is being released for the final period before the second coming of Jesus Christ.
In this interpretation, the first beast of Revelation 13 is Gog, the chief angel of Magog. He is an invisible spiritual being, empowered by the dragon. He receives authority for a limited period and works to deceive the nations.
Gog and Magog: Not a Nation, But a Spiritual Reality
Many people have tried to identify Gog and Magog as countries, regions, or political powers. This teaching presents a different view: Magog is Satan himself, and Gog is his chief angel. The battle is therefore not merely political or military; it is spiritual.
God works through Jesus Christ to bring people into salvation and into the kingdom of God. In opposition, Magog the devil works through Gog to gather his own people and lead them into deception and destruction. This is why the final conflict is not only about world events; it is about worship, obedience, and eternal destiny.
The Two Witnesses and the Beast System
Revelation 11 must be read together with Revelation 13. Revelation 11 speaks about the two witnesses who prophesy for 1,260 days. Revelation 13 speaks of the beast being given authority for 42 months. These are the same period: three and a half years.
During this time, God and Jesus will perform mighty works through the two witnesses. They are described as two olive trees and two lampstands standing before the Lord of the earth. They have authority from God and testify during the tribulation period.
At the same time, the beast system rises. The first beast is Gog, a spiritual being. But because human beings cannot see invisible spiritual entities, the deception must also involve visible representatives on earth.
The False Prophet: The Second Beast
Revelation 13 also describes a second beast rising from the earth. This second beast is identified as the false prophet. Unlike the first beast, the false prophet is a human being. He performs signs and wonders and causes people to worship the first beast.
The false prophet is especially dangerous because he appears in visible form and performs deceptive miracles. He acts on behalf of the first beast and leads the inhabitants of the earth into worship of the beast system.
This means that the world will see a confrontation between truth and deception. God will work through His two witnesses, while the devil will work through Gog, the false prophet, and the image of the beast.
The Image of the Beast
Revelation 13:14 speaks of an image made in honor of the beast. The teaching warns that this image may be connected to modern developments such as humanoid robots and artificial intelligence. While the exact form must be discerned carefully, the warning is that this image will be used as part of the deception.
Revelation says that the second beast is given power to give breath to the image, so that the image can speak and cause those who refuse to worship it to be killed. This is why believers must be spiritually alert. The deception will not appear weak; it will appear powerful, impressive, and convincing.
The Mark of the Beast and the Coming Test
The beast system will also bring the mark of the beast. Revelation 13:16-17 says that all people — great and small, rich and poor, free and slave — will be forced to receive a mark on their right hand or forehead, and that no one will be able to buy or sell without it.
This teaching connects the mark with a coming world system and a new order of buying and selling. The important point is not speculation, but obedience: when the mark comes, believers must refuse it. Receiving the mark will show loyalty to the beast and disobedience to God.
Revelation 4:1 Is Not the Rapture
The teaching also warns against the idea that Revelation 4:1 describes the rapture of the church. Revelation 4:1 is John being taken into a spiritual vision of God’s throne. It is not the removal of the church before tribulation.
Instead, believers must prepare to endure. The final gathering of God’s people is connected with the last trumpet. Revelation 11:15 describes the seventh trumpet, when the kingdom of the world becomes the kingdom of our Lord and His Messiah.
Why This Teaching Matters
Understanding Gog matters because believers must know the enemy’s strategy. The devil does not want to go into judgment alone. He seeks to deceive the nations and gather people into rebellion against God. Through Gog, the false prophet, the image of the beast, and the mark of the beast, the world will be tested.
This is why the message of Revelation is urgent. It is not given so that believers can be entertained by prophecy. It is given so that they can prepare, repent, live holy lives, and stand firm when deception comes.
How Should Believers Prepare?
Believers must prepare by knowing God, knowing Jesus Christ, and knowing the Word of God. Without the Bible, people will be deceived. Without the Holy Spirit, people will not have the strength to stand.
To prepare for the coming tribulation period, believers should:
- Receive Jesus Christ and live in Him.
- Study the Bible seriously, especially Revelation 11, 13, 14, and 20.
- Understand that Gog and Magog represent a spiritual reality, not merely a political location.
- Recognize the danger of the false prophet and deceptive signs.
- Refuse to worship the beast or its image.
- Refuse the mark of the beast, even under pressure.
- Live a holy, pure, and righteous life before God.
- Pray and remain filled with the Holy Spirit.
Conclusion: Be Strong and Do Not Be Deceived
Revelation 13:1 reveals a beast coming out of the sea. According to this teaching, this beast is Gog, the chief angel of Magog, empowered by the dragon for the final deception before the second coming of Jesus Christ. The world will face the beast system, the false prophet, the image of the beast, and the mark of the beast.
But God has not left His people without warning. Revelation tells us what is coming so that we can prepare. The message is simple and serious: worship God alone, believe in Jesus Christ, stay grounded in Scripture, live a holy life, and do not be deceived.
Do not worship the beast. Do not worship its image. Do not receive its mark. Be strong, be courageous, and remain faithful to Jesus Christ.
