What is The New Covenant about?

Gen 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, THE LORD appeared to him and said, "I AM GOD ALMIGHTY; walk before ME faithfully and be blameless.

Exo 19:5 Now if you obey ME fully and keep MY COVENANT, then out of all nations you will be MY treasured possession. although the whole earth is MINE,

Exo 19:6 You will be for ME a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the israelites."

Rev 1:5  and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

Rev 1:6  and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

Rev 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.

Rev 5:10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."

Rev 10:7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of GOD will be accomplished, just as HE announced to his servants the prophets."

REV 11:15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: "the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever."

1Co 15:24 Then the end will come, when HE hands over the kingdom to GOD THE FATHER after HE has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.

Isa 55:11  So is MY WORD that goes out from MY MOUTH: It will not return to ME empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

2Sa 7:11 and have done ever since the time i appointed leaders over my people israel. i will also give you rest from all your enemies. "'THE LORD DECLARES TO YOU THAT THE LORD HIMSELF WILL ESTABLISH A HOUSE FOR YOU:

2Sa 7:12 When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I WILL RAISE UP YOUR OFFSPRING TO SUCCEED YOU, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.

Psa 132:11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: "one of your own descendants i will place on your throne.

2Sa 7:13 he is the one who will build a house for MY NAME, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

1Pe 2:4 As you come TO HIM, THE LIVING STONE--rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him--

1Pe 2:5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a SPIRITUAL HOUSE to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to GOD through JESUS CHRIST.

1Pe 2:6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and THE ONE WHO TRUSTS IN HIM WILL NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME."

1Pe 2:7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE, "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,"

1Pe 2:8 and, "A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for.

1Pe 2:9 but you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, GOD'S special possession, that you may declare the praises of HIM who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1Pe 2:10 Once you were not a people, BUT NOW YOU ARE THE PEOPLE OF GOD; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1Pe 2:21 TO this you were called, because CHRIST suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow IN HIS steps.

Psa 40:5  Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

Psa 40:6  Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened— burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.

PSA 40:7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll.

Psa 40:8 I desire to do YOUR WILL, MY GOD; YOUR LAW is within MY HEART."

Heb 10:5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but A BODY YOU PREPARED FOR ME;

Heb 10:6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.

Heb 10:7 Then I said, 'Here I am--it is written about me in the scroll-- I have come to do YOUR WILL, MY GOD.'"

Mal 3:1  "I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly THE LORD you are seeking will come to HIS TEMPLE; THE MESSENGER of THE COVENANT, WHOM you desire, will come," says THE LORD ALMIGHTY.

Gen 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, THE LORD appeared to him and said, "I AM GOD ALMIGHTY; WALK BEFORE ME FAITHFULLY AND BE BLAMELESS.

Gen 17:7  I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

Gen 17:2  Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers."

Gen 17:3  Abram fell facedown, and God said to him,

Gen 17:4  "As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations.

Gen 18:18  Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. Gal 3:8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."

Gen 18:19  For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."

Gal 3:7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.

Gal 3:8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."

Gal 3:9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

Gal 3:14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

Act 5:32  We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey HIM."

Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Heb 11:17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,

Dear brothers and sisters, welcome to God’s Will Church International.

Today I want to speak to you about something that is at the very heart of the Christian life:

The New Covenant and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

What happens after you believe in Jesus Christ?

Is Christianity simply believing that Jesus died for your sins, and then continuing to live exactly as you lived before?

No.

Jesus came not only to forgive us, but to bring us into a new life with God.

The Bible teaches that through Jesus Christ we enter the New Covenant, and in this new life God gives His Holy Spirit to His people.

The Holy Spirit works within us—leading us into truth, changing our hearts, helping us resist sin, producing righteousness and holiness in our lives, and teaching us to live according to the will of God.

1Jn 4:13 This is how we know that we live IN HIM and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit

Rom 8:11 And IF the Spirit OF HIM WHO RAISED Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.

Romans 8:14:“For those who are led by the Spirit OF GOD are the children of GOD.”

So today I want us to understand what it means to live as a child of God under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

1. GOD PROMISED A NEW COVENANT

The New Covenant did not begin as an idea invented by the apostles.

God promised it hundreds of years before Jesus came.

What is the New Covenant about?

Mal 3:1  "I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly THE LORD you are seeking will come to HIS TEMPLE; THE MESSENGER of THE COVENANT, WHOM you desire, will come," says THE LORD ALMIGHTY.

Heb 9:15  For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

2Pe 1:9  But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

In Jeremiah 31:31–34, God announced that the days were coming when He would establish a new covenant. Jer 31:31  "The days are coming," declares THE LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

Jer 31:32 IT will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, BECAUSE THEY BROKE MY COVENANT, though I was a husband to them," DECLARES THE LORD

Jer 31:33 "This is THE COVENANT I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put MY LAW in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their GOD, and they will be MY PEOPLE.

Jer 31:34 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'KNOW THE LORD,' BECAUSE THEY WILL ALL KNOW ME, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

And one of the great promises of this covenant was that God's law would not merely remain something external.

God says in Jeremiah 31:33 that He would put His law in the minds of His people and write it upon their hearts.

This same promise appears again in Hebrews 8:8–12.

Heb 8:6 But in fact THE MINISTRY JESUS has received is as superior to theirs as THE COVENANT of which HE IS MEDIATOR is superior to THE OLD ONE, since THE NEW COVENANT is established on better promises.

Heb 8:7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.

Heb 8:8 But GOD found fault with the people and said: "The days are coming, declares THE LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.

Heb 8:9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to MY COVENANT, and I turned away from them, declares THE LORD.

Heb 8:10 This is the covenant i will establish with the people of ISRAEL after that time, declares THE LORD. I will put MY laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I WILL be their GOD, and they will be MY PEOPLE.

Heb 8:11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the Lord,' BECAUSE THEY WILL ALL KNOW ME, from the least of them to the greatest.

Heb 8:6 But in fact the ministry JESUS has received is as superior to theirs as THE COVENANT of which HE IS MEDIATOR is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

2Co 3:7  Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was,

2Co 3:8  will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

2Co_3:9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious IS THE MINISTRY that brings RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Jhn 16:7  But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. UNLESS I GO AWAY, THE ADVOCATE WILL NOT COME TO YOU; BUT IF I GO, I WILL SEND HIM TO YOU.

Jhn 16:8  WHEN HE COMES, HE WILL PROVE THE WORLD TO BE IN THE WRONG ABOUT SIN AND RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUDGMENT:

Jhn 16:9  about sin, because people do not believe in me;

Jhn 16:10  about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;

Jhn 16:11  and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Jhn 16:12  "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.

Jhn 16:13  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Jhn 16:14  He will glorify ME because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.

Act 5:32  We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

Jhn 16:15  All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you."

Jhn 17:26 I have made YOU known to them, and will continue to make YOU KNOWN in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

Rom 2:13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

Rom 8:4  in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

1Co 1:30 IT IS BECAUSE OF HIM THAT YOU ARE IN CHRIST JESUS, WHO HAS BECOME FOR US WISDOM FROM GOD--THAT IS, OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, HOLINESS AND REDEMPTION.

2Co 5:21 GOD made HIM who had no sin to be sin for us, so that IN HIM we might become the righteousness of GOD.

2Co 5:17 Therefore, IF ANYONE IS IN CHRIST, THE NEW CREATION HAS COME: The old has gone, the new is here!

2Co_3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate THE LORD'S GLORY, are being transformed into HIS IMAGE with ever-increasing glory, which comes from THE LORD, WHO IS THE SPIRIT.

Eph 4:24 And to put on the new self, created to be like GOD IN TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS.

Col 2:2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery OF GOD, NAMELY, CHRIST,

Col 2:3 In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Tit 1:1 Paul, a servant of GOD and an apostle of JESUS CHRIST to further the faith of GOD'S elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to GODLINESS—

2TI 1:1  Paul, an apostle of CHRIST JESUS by the will of GOD, in keeping with THE PROMISE OF LIFE that is IN CHRIST JESUS,

Eph 3:6  THIS MYSTERY IS that THROUGH THE GOSPEL the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise IN CHRIST JESUS.

Col 2:2  My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,

Col 2:3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Isa 33:6 HE WILL BE THE SURE FOUNDATION for your times, a rich store of salvation and WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

Gal 3:26  So IN CHRIST JESUS you are all children of GOD THROUGH FAITH,

1Jn 3:2  Dear friends, now WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that WHEN CHRIST APPEARS, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS.

Col 1:19  For GOD was pleased to have ALL HIS FULLNESS DWELL IN HIM,

Col 2:9  For IN CHRIST ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE DEITY LIVES IN BODILY FORM,

Col 2:10  AND IN CHRIST you have been brought to FULLNESS. He is the head over every power and authority.

Joh 17:3  now THIS IS ETERNAL LIFE: that they know you, the only TRUE GOD, and JESUS CHRIST, WHOM you have sent.

1Jn 5:20 We know also that THE SON OF GOD has come and has given us understanding, so that we may KNOW HIM WHO IS TRUE. and we are IN HIM WHO IS TRUE by being IN HIS SON JESUS CHRIST. HE IS THE TRUE GOD AND ETERNAL LIFE.

1Ti 3:16  Beyond all question, THE MYSTERY FROM WHICH TRUE GODLINESS SPRINGS IS GREAT: HE APPEARED IN THE FLESH, WAS VINDICATED BY THE SPIRIT, WAS SEEN BY ANGELS, WAS PREACHED AMONG THE NATIONS, WAS BELIEVED ON IN THE WORLD, WAS TAKEN UP IN GLORY.

1Jn 5:11  And this is the testimony: GOD has given us ETERNAL LIFE, and this LIFE IS IN HIS SON.

1Jn 3:24 The one who keeps GOD'S COMMANDS lives IN HIM, and he in them. and this is how we know that he liveS IN US: We know it by THE SPIRIT HE GAVE US

1Jn 2:5  But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are IN HIM:

1Jn 2:6  Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

1Jn 3:6  No one who lives IN HIM keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen HIM or KNOWN HIM.

ROM 6:23  for the wages of sin is death, but THE GIFT of GOD IS eternal life IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.

JOH 3:15  that everyone who believes may have ETERNAL LIFE ….IN HIM."

Joh 20:31  but these are written that you may believe that JESUS IS THE MESSIAH, THE SON OF GOD, and that by believing you may have LIFE IN HIS NAME.

1Jn 3:23  And this is HIS COMMAND: TO BELIEVE in THE NAME OF HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST, and to love one another as HE COMMANDED us.

2TI 1:1  Paul, an apostle of CHRIST JESUS by the will of GOD, in keeping with THE PROMISE OF LIFE that is IN CHRIST JESUS,

Eph 3:6  THIS MYSTERY IS that THROUGH THE GOSPEL the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise IN CHRIST JESUS.

1Co 15:22  For as in Adam all die, so IN CHRIST all will be made alive.

Joh 17:3  now this is eternal life: that they know YOU, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, AND JESUS CHRIST, whom YOU have sent.

Col 1:12  and giving joyful thanks to THE FATHER, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

2Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that IN HIM we might become the righteousness of God.

1Jn 3:3  All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

1Jn 3:24 the one who keeps GOD'S COMMANDS lives IN HIM, AND HE IN THEM. and this is how we know that he lives in us: we know it by THE SPIRIT HE gave us.

Act 5:32  We are witnesses of these things, and so is THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHOM GOD has given to those who obey HIM

1Jn 2:3 We know that we have come TO KNOW HIM IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDS.

Rom 3:22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JEW AND GENTILE,

Joh 8:51  Very truly I tell you, WHOEVER OBEYS MY WORD will never see death."

Mat 13:41  The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.

Mat 13:42  They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat 13:43  THEN THE RIGHTEOUS will shine like the sun in THE KINGDOM OF THEIR FATHER. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

Mat 13:49  This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous

Mat 13:50  and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat 25:41  "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Mat 25:46  "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but THE RIGHTEOUS TO ETERNAL LIFE.

Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God THAT BRINGS SALVATION TO EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES: FIRST TO THE JEW, THEN TO THE GENTILE.

Rom 1:17  For IN THE GOSPEL THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Rom 1:5 Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name's sake.

Rom 16:26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith—

Php 3:9  And be found IN HIM, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in CHRIST—The righteousness that comes from GOD on the basis of faith.

2Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, SO THAT IN HIM we might become THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.

Rom 8:10 But IF CHRIST is IN you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, THE SPIRIT gives life because of righteousness.

1Jn 5:9  We accept human testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.

1Jn 5:10  Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son.

1Jn 5:11  And this is the testimony: GOD HAS GIVEN US ETERNAL LIFE, AND THIS LIFE IS IN HIS SON.

1Jn 5:12  Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son OF GOD DOES NOT HAVE LIFE.

Jhn 3:18  Whoever believes IN HIM is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

JOH 3:15  THAT EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES MAY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE ….IN HIM."

1Jn 5:12  whoever has THE SON has life; whoever does not have THE SON OF GOD does not have LIFE.

Joh 6:57  just as THE LIVING FATHER SENT ME AND I live because of THE FATHER, so the one who feeds on ME will live because of ME.

2Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, SO THAT IN HIM we might become THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.

Joh 17:3  now this is eternal life: that they know YOU, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, AND JESUS CHRIST, whom YOU have sent.

1Jn 5:20 We know also that THE SON OF GOD has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know HIM WHO IS TRUE. and we are IN HIM WHO IS TRUE by being IN HIS SON JESUS CHRIST. HE IS THE TRUE GOD AND ETERNAL LIFE.

1Jn 2:3  We know that we have come to KNOW HIM IF we keep HIS COMMANDS.

1Jn 3:24 The one who keeps GOD'S COMMANDS lives IN HIM, and HE in them. And this is how we know that HE LIVES in us: We know it by THE SPIRIT HE GAVE US.

1Jn 2:4  Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.

1Jn 2:5 But if anyone obeys HIS WORD, love for GOD is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are IN HIM:

1Jn 2:6 Whoever claims to live IN HIM must live as JESUS did

1Jn 3:5  But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. and IN HIM is no sin.

1Jn 1:5  This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; IN HIM there is no darkness at all.

Rom 1:17  For in the gospel the righteousness OF GOD is revealed—A RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT IS BY FAITH from first to last, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS will live by faith."

Rom 1:5 Through HIM we received grace and apostleship to call all the gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for HIS NAME'S SAKE.

1Pe 1:2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of GOD THE FATHER, through the sanctifying work of THE SPIRIT, to be obedient to JESUS CHRIST and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

2Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, SO THAT IN HIM WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.

1Pe 1:2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of GOD THE FATHER, through the sanctifying work of THE SPIRIT, to be obedient to JESUS CHRIST and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

JOH 8:51 VERY TRULY I TELL YOU, WHOEVER OBEYS MY WORD WILL NEVER SEE DEATH."

Rom 8:1  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS,

Rom 8:2  because through Christ Jesus THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT WHO GIVES LIFE has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Rom 8:3  For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,

Rom 8:4  in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to THE SPIRIT.

Rom 8:5  Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

Rom 8:6  The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is LIFE and peace.

Rom 8:7  The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.

Rom 8:8  Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Rom 8:9  You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh BUT ARE IN THE REALM OF THE SPIRIT, if indeed the SPIRIT OF GOD lives in you. and if anyone does not have THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST, they do not belong to CHRIST.

Rom 8:10 But IF CHRIST IS IN you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE BECAUSE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Rom 8:11  AND IF THE SPIRIT OF HIM WHO RAISED JESUS from the dead is living in you, HE WHO RAISED CHRIST from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of HIS SPIRIT WHO LIVES in you.

Under the New Covenant, God is concerned not merely with external religious behaviour.

God wants the heart.

Heb 3:10  That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.'

Heb 3:11  So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'"

Heb 3:12  See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

Heb 3:17  And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?

Heb 3:18  And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?

Heb 3:19  So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.

Heb 4:1 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.

Heb 4:2 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.

Heb 4:11  Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

Heb 10:26 if we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,

Heb 10:27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies OF GOD.
