Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today, we are going to answer a very important question:
What happens to a human being after death?
Many people have different opinions, but today we will look at what the Scriptures say.
First, we need to understand that there is a difference between physical death and what many call the rapture, when Jesus comes to take His people.
So let us begin with this question:
What happens when we die?
The Bible teaches us that when a person dies, the spirit leaves the body. The physical body returns to dust, but the spirit continues to live.
According to Scripture, you will have a spiritual body.
In 1 Corinthians 15:44, it says:
“It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.”
This means that although your physical body dies, you are raised in a different form—a spiritual body.
Your spiritual body will still reflect who you are, but it will no longer be physical. It will be heavenly.
Because the Bible tells us clearly in 1 Corinthians 15:50:
“Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.”
Scripture References
When happens when we die?
The scriptures explain it all . Your spirit leaves your body and you are in a spiritual form, you have a spiritual body and the spiritual body will be looking the same as the way you looked while in a physical body. The physical body is going to be changed into a spiritual body. Your heavenly spiritual body will still look like your physical body but the splendor of your heavenly body will be in a spiritual form .
Please note that the physical body will not be raised, as flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God . God and Jesus are Almighty Spirits , so will we also be in spiritual form. 1Co 15:50 and 1Jhn 3:2
1Co 15:51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed–
1Co 15:52 IN A FLASH, IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE, AT THE LAST TRUMPET. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, AND WE WILL BE CHANGED.
1Th 4:17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
1Co 15:50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, THAT FLESH AND BLOOD cannot inherit THE KINGDOM OF GOD, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
1Co 15:40 There are also HEAVENLY BODIES and there are EARTHLY BODIES; but THE SPLENDOR OF THE HEAVENLY BODIES IS ONE KIND, and THE SPLENDOR OF THE EARTHLY BODIES IS ANOTHER.
1Co 15:42 So will it be with THE RESURRECTION of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;
1Co 15:44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
1Co 15:45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
1Co 15:46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.
1Co 15:47 The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven.
1Co 15:48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.
Where does your spirit go when you die . The spirit of the righteous Christian are going to the place called paradise in heaven where God and Jesus are and they will be waiting there for the day of judgement . The spirit of the unbeliever , the ungodly , those who did not believe in God of the Bible and who did not Believe in Jesus and haven’t receive Jesus as his/her Lord and Savior and those who continued to live a sinful life , they are going to a place called Hades. There they will be waiting for the day of judgment .
On judgement day the righteous Christians will go from paradise in heaven to the New Jerusalem in heaven and those who were waiting in Hades will go to the place called Hell , also called the pool of burning sulfur where Magog also called Satan the Devil will also have been thrown into.
With second coming of Jesus , your physical body will not go through the death experience , your spirit will just leave your body while you are still alive . People call it the rapture . This will happen with the second coming of Jesus and it will happen when the seventh angel sounded his trumpet as we read in the following scriptures .
1Jn 3:2 Dear friends, NOW WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that WHEN CHRIST APPEARS, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS.

1Co 15:53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

The Righteous Christians go to aparadise when they die and
Jesus will come and take the righteous the righteous Christians out of this world with his second coming
EACH PERSON WALKS IN THEIR OWN SHOES OF LOVE ALONG THEIR OWN PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
WHY do we need to understand the importance of RIGHTEOUSNESS ?

New Jerusalem is in heaven and not on earth
Rev 3:12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.
Rev 21:2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

The Heavenly Body
There are two types of bodies:
- Earthly bodies
- Heavenly bodies
1 Corinthians 15:40 says:
“There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies… the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another.”
So when we die, we are changed from the earthly to the heavenly.
And this change is powerful.
1 Corinthians 15:52 says:
“In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye… we will be changed.”
Where Does the Spirit Go?
Now the next question is:
Where does your spirit go after death?
The Bible teaches two destinations:
1. The Righteous
Those who believe in God, who have accepted Jesus Christ, and who walk in righteousness—
their spirits go to paradise, in heaven.
There, they are in the presence of God and Jesus, waiting for the day of judgment.
2. The Unbelievers
Those who reject God, who do not accept Jesus Christ, and continue in sin—
they go to a place called Hades.
In Luke 16:23, we see that Hades is a place of torment.
And there, they also wait for judgment.
Judgment Day
There is a day coming when everyone will be judged.
Revelation 20:13 says:
“Each person was judged according to what they had done.”
On that day:
- The righteous will enter eternal life
- The wicked will face eternal punishment
Jesus said in Matthew 25:46:
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
The Final Destinations
After judgment:
- The righteous will be with God in the New Jerusalem
- The unbelievers will be cast into hell, the lake of fire
Revelation 21:8 describes this as a place of burning sulfur, which is the second death.
The Second Coming of Jesus (The Rapture)
Now let us talk about those who are still alive when Jesus returns.
The Bible says they will not experience death in the normal way.
Instead, their bodies will be changed instantly.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 says:
“We who are still alive… will be caught up together… to meet the Lord in the air.”
And again,
“We will all be changed… in the twinkling of an eye.”
This happens at the sound of the last trumpet.
Why Is Righteousness Important?
This teaching is not just about knowledge—it is about how we live.
Jesus makes it clear that there will be a separation:
Matthew 13:49 says:
“The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous.”
The righteous will shine like the sun.
But the wicked will face judgment.
Final Message
Each person walks their own path.
Each person must choose righteousness.
Because after death, there is no second chance—only judgment.
So the question is not just:
What happens after death?
The real question is:
Where will you go?
May you choose the path of righteousness.
May you walk with Jesus Christ.
And may you be ready for His coming.
God bless you.
