More hocus pocus for the gullible.

That being said, the Jews didn’t really do themselves any favors by being so uncompromising and unyielding with their faith, to the point of sometimes seeming very arrogant (“the chosen people of God”, etc.). This very attitude was the one that Christians seized on to promote two millenia of rabid anti-Semitism. Instead of simply compromising with the Christians and slowly blending in with them to avoid these violent confrontations, they instead chose the role of the heroic, isolated outsider. It’s this role that got them caught up in the Holocaust, and at the center of the current never ending Middle East disaster.

On top of it all, the modern state of Israel has become the Tiger Beat pinup idol of the Fundamentalist Right, which doesn’t bode well. Still, I consider the Jews much less of an “enemy”, and hold them overall in far less contempt, than I do the other two monotheist doctrines.

Seriously, let’s get litigious people. Sue these bastards into the dust from which they came.

May you exist, and really be pissed about all the things done in your name, and cast the religious into the darkest pit of hell, while elevating to heaven those who used the gifts of rationality you gave them. For that would be some Holy Irony.

Most humans don’t have the time or the inclination to be philosophers, it’s still too hard staying alive for a shameful percentage of us; we have to get by with the principles we acquire along the way and the thoughts of people like you if we don’t agree with the “national religion”. I think myself very lucky, statistically, to have the freedom to choose my religion or lack of; I’d be almost as worried living in some parts of the US as I would in Iran, frankly.

I find it almost impossible, as more and more images of this vast, beautiful universe come streaming back from orbiting satellites and new, better telescopes, the majesty of galaxies and nebulae so far away in space and time, the extra-solar planets that are appearing almost daily, to really comprehend that there are some people who think it was all created just for them. All this, all these wonders and possibilities that science is beginning to hint at. What stunning arrogance!
