Any one here remember Robert Jeffress? He’s the dork from First Baptist of Dallas that introduced Rick Perry at a Values Voter Summit this year, and then decided to chime in on Mormonism, calling it a cult. Any one who has been unfortunate enough to spend time as a Christian knows that Mormonism is a cult. They’ve been preaching that for a long, long time. If you add anything to the Holy Writ, such as another book, or teach anything weird, like Jesus and Satan being brothers (we all suspected that though), well, then it HAS to be a cult, right?
Well, this stalwart knucklehead decided to drop in Janet Mefford, a religious reichie with a big microphone. And of course, he went off on a typical rant these days, including comparing our current state of the nation as being in that space between the last explosion of a building demo project, and the created implosion. We’re still waiting by the way.
In the meantime, let’s make the claim that 3=5. Everyone knows that’s true right? Jeffress decided that neutrality = hostility. He said, “It is impossible for the government to be neutral toward religion, neutrality is really hostility toward religion and especially the Christian religion.”
Yeeeaaaaa…..take that Thomas Jefferson.
This level of ignorance is becoming a standard among the Religious Reichies. We’re talking about the leadership here, the supposed educated ones. And when it comes to things American, like the Constitution and it’s surrounding historical context, Jeffress doesn’t know his ass from his elbow. The only reason this moron can say such stupid things is because of that very neutrality. Just wait til the Muslims take over, or the gays! Then he’ll find out what real hostility is!
The other glaring illogic is his claim that the Supreme Court over the last 50 years made three decisions (Engel V. Vitale, 1962, Roe V. Wade, 1973, and Lawrence V. Texas, 2003)that have “so destroyed the spiritual and social structure of our country.” Really? (Still waiting by the way) So what you’re saying is that the very group of believers that you, Mr. Jeffress, are a shepherd to, have been so weak and lacking in faith and prayer and attention over the last half a century that a group of eight people, and never the same group, over a span of 50 years, completely abrogated the nation that God ordained!? God fell asleep at the wheel, and his people were in the back seat playing with each other, Ted Haggard style or Jimmy Swaggert style! Hell of an admission.
Meanwhile, still waiting…….
